Cafe Newport is supposed to be nice, and it's right in JC. Chart House, Arthur's Landing, Ruth's Chris - all in Weehawken with views of the city. How about a Spirit Cruise, leaving right near the Chart House?

I seem to recall Arthur's Landing in Weehawken was quite an upscale, delightful experience. (201) 867-0777. It was on the river, overlooked the NY skyline, and there was a mooring nearby for private boats.
There was also a place in Orange, it had been a very elegant establishment, it overlooked Newark Airport about 10 miles away, was situated on a small, cliff-like outcropping. They used to do carriage rides and weddings/banquets, but it's name slips me.
Let fun be the accent in your experience and you should have a wonderful time.
