Default Do we need an alarm system in Bergen County?

We're planning on purchasing a house in Dumont of Bergen County.
The house is on a dead end street. Do you think we need an alarm system? Our family is from Queens, NY so we're not the type to not lock our cars or our house - trust me. But to us, it seems safer to have one.
We have a dog - totally harmless little guy - and a newborn baby.

Would anyone know how much it is to maintain one for a year? We currently have Slomin's in our apartment for $360 a year.

Advice welcome.
Thanks a bunch!

It's up to you. I like having one. Everyone I know has one.

Dumont is safe. If having one helps you sleep easier at night, then get it.

Unnecessary probably. How much does it cost per month?

There are a lot of people in my neighborhood who have them, but I have never had one and (knock on wood) have never needed one, at all. I will not be buying one. It's probably a waste of money, but if you don't feel safe without it it might be worth paying for the peace of mind.

How is the crime rate in Dumont compared to the other towns?
It is really for a peace of mind...but does it matter since the home is on a dead end street?

If I moved to Dumont, I would still not get an alarm system. And if the home I bought had one, I wouldn't pay for the service, and I wouldn't use it. The most I might do is put up or leave up the stickers that say "This home protected by _______".
