Hallo,

vielen Dank. Wir sind seit 2 Tagen hier und sind noch in billeting. Heute gehen wir mal nach Autos gucken und evtl. Haeuser zum Mieten off base. Mal sehen. Hier in billeting kann ich mich noch nicht richtig eingewoehnen aber vielleicht wenn wir mal ein Haus haben. Ich melde mich wenn wir Info braucen. Vielen Dank nochmal.

Na dann viel Glück mit der Häusersuche. Einen Tip kann ich schon geben falls Sie das noch nicht gehört haben. Es gibt ein deutsches Restaurant direkt neben the Air Base. Es ist zwar schon einige Jahre her aber ich erinnere mich noch gut an deren Gulaschsuppe Schmeckt wie Zuhause. Hier ist die Webseite mit Adresse und Menu:

I agree - we have plenty of Germans in NJ. I work an hour north of McGuire at a company that has a research center in Germany. None of them have particularly complained about NJ.

I can tell you that you are lucky to get McGuire vs many of the more remote AF bases like those out in North and South Dakota. While there is not a ton of stuff within a few minutes of McGuire, a 20-30 minute drive will get you to plenty of shopping and nice towns. You are close to major cities on our East Coast like Philadelphia and New York. You are within driving distance of Washington DC, Baltimore and Boston. Like a pp mentioned, the shore towns are not far either.

Maybe not. I know a German church congregation in the northern part of New Jersey. There may be similar communities down that way.

Thanks for all the info. I appreciate it We just moved into a brand new house on base and I love it. Still unpacking but its all good. I have found many stores, malls, reastaurants already and it really isnt as bad as I thought. LOL
