Below is info from the DOL of NYS.

New York State Department of Labor Extended Benefits Update - Everyone, no vote occured today in the U.S. Senate on the extended benefits bill. We are hearing that it may be on the calendar for next week. As reported earlier, several added amendments by some U.S. Senators has resulted in delaying passage of this bill. If we hear anything over the weekend we will definitely provide another update to everyone.

That's great!! Thanks NjCommander: I do have lots of questions. This is all new for me. Is NJ Shares part of PSE&G? Does it matter what county you're in? Will PSE&G give you 'grace' period if you're waiting for processing which you mentioned a few posts down might take a few billing cycles. {Also, I googled NJ Shares in Paramus, NJ and got only 300 Valentine St
Hackettstown}. I appreciate your patience and help!!

Good Luck ALL!

No problem Dsnbreaker...No NJ Shares is not part of PSE&G. It is a non profit organization. As long you're in NJ you can get assistance from them. Go to this link and look for your county NJ Shares - Where To Apply . I did received the grant letter and they told me it will take 1-2 billing cycle to get credit to your account. So you still need to make payments until you receive the grant. You can go to your local PSE&G office and make payment arrangements. I think you can get like 6 installment for your bill. Hope this helps. Goodluck to you!

p.s. This is the address that i went to apply with:
205 Robin Road Suite 216, Paramus, NJ 07652

Default Response

Absolutely not!

All you need is a paystub, the actuall utility bill, photo ID. NJ Shares is for the working family. They don't care what's in your bank.

Hope this helps

BROCKEN IN N.J. is on a distinguished road
I am glad to see that when it gets down to the meat. Most of us are all very concerned about each other. If only the example could come from the top down. Just seeing this happen gives back a kind off hope that even another extension would not have provided!!! I spent the day trying to deal with PSEG. NOT MUCH LUCK THEY ARE A HARD COPANY TO DEAL WITH. Anyone have a number and an extension to someone their that can help???

What county are you in Brocken ? For the past two years I have been going to (forgive me I forget what it was call but will find out for you all) Pitman Glouster County to get help with my electric bill. Each year that I/we applied they checked our paystubs and determined based on what we made, what we were able to recieve. Most everyone has been or now is in the same boat so income was basically low. The first year they paid of our outstanding bill and gave us an allowance that basically added up to 140 dollars per month for the entire year. So during the summer we could run the air conditioner and not have to worry about it and what ever was not used for that month which was allowed to us rolled over to the total amount by then end of summer we had still money that was in our acct. and beings that we were in an apt. heat was included. The second year we were not given as much but the allowance rolled over so it kept us a float for the summer months. The program is threw the state and each individual county has their own determining factors. But since I just went along for the ride and did not partake in the initial meeting I do not know the name of the program but I promise to find out for you guys.

Other than that how is everyone doing other than the obvious? Was looking on the calender and did not see any reason that the Senate or the House would need to take off. If you want to see for yourself go to U.S. Senate when you go there just click on the right side where it says Senate schedual there they have a calender of what days they are working and not.

I also started another Thread so that if we end up getting Warned by a Moderator that we have been going off topic to much and there is a possibility of being shut down we can go there for more general Unemployment talk as well as what we/people have been doing to cope since exhausting and not being able to find work. http://www.city-data.com/forum/new-j...what-your.html That should link you to the thread feel free to post your thoughts there that are completely off topic from here that should prevent any complications of this site getting to much unwanted attention.

As always take care guys and Stay strong
