I believe it was postponed to allow for an electronic vote of Yea or Nay.
According to THE PREVIOUS QUESTION: WHAT DOES THIS VOTE MEAN?
" Yea and Nay Vote. A vote in which members usually respond "aye" or "no" (despite the official title of the vote) on a question when their names are called in alphabetical order. Article I, Section 5 of the Constitution declares that "the Yeas and Nays of the Members...on any question" shall be obtained "at the Desire of one fifth of those present." Clause 6(a) of Rule XX provides that a yea and nay vote can be ordered "automatically" in the House when a Member objects to a pending vote on the ground that a quorum is not present. Yea and nay votes are usually taken by electronic device."

For it to fully pass, it has to pass at the house and then off to congress to be voted on there and then if it passes there, then it goes to the president. Today's outcome means nothing in itself so why is everbody so excited? Congress would still have to vote and then send to the president. It will be weeks at least before anyone sees a check.
also, this extension willl not help anyone who has already ran out of EB proir to this extension being written into law. It is only good for the people expiring "after" the extension is approved ( anyone expiring on that date until the end of the year). notice how the proposed bill mentions nothing about those who have already ran out or run out before the extension is made law. its only good for those after. check out the bill and you will see.

CSPAN today.
I looked up quorum (a number of people who have to be present to make a vote valid). Can I assume that this is a technicality? I never watched CSPAN before. It was interesting (and I've heard very addictive). You know who will be pinned to the TV at 6:30.
I have to say, it was amazing to see our government face an issue in a bipartisan manner, particularly at this time with the health care issue pending. But it did drive home the awareness that I am amongst the unemployed multitude and what a bad situation I am in. Yipe!!!

That is great if it helps those who ran out as well, a lot of the wording suggested "people who are going to run out". Im sure that will get cleared up. This thing will pass but it will take the states a while to get their computers setup for it. If it passes tonight, should take a few weeks to get checks out there.

Yeah I never watched C Span before, very interesting. He did say it was postponed, as mentioned till later. This is in the House, correct? This bill has to go to the Senate or was it passed there?
The House and Senate make up Congress, then to the President.
