Sorry if I sound like im repeating. Im still a liitle confused. Why would the NJ website even says 20 weeks if, at this moment, it is not possible to collect 20 weeks. I mean if you cant get 20 as if now, why didnt they say 14 and "possibly more"?

All this is so Damn confusing. However, I just need the money thats all. I haven't work for close to 3 years. Not that I wasn't looking. I just didn't want to settle for silly jobs. That was paying less than my bills. Come on I have a kid and rent...etc Hard labor is not easy!

Second is: My mother is due to exhaust her UE benefits on the 9th of December. Is she going to be eligible for this extension as it stands right now? I was under the impression that the cut off date for filing for this new extension has to be put in by December 21st.

Assuming EB, the 9th is a Wed, is that when she certifies for weeks ending 11/28, 12/5?
Then she gets 1 wk Tier II, wk ending 12/12 and starts Tier III
12/19 (13 wks) so IMO, your Mom seems to be ok, except as we are posting, for Tier IV.(6wks)
As you can see, I'm reading what you are about this new extension exhausting with the other extensions end of Dec'09 . Not sure!!!!!

Some were on top of what the bill was about. I was not, just what I read on here and the internet.
So if anyone is good at it, please go back to the bill and quote from it if there are dates. I along with others have been reading that this new extension could expire this year, unbelievable.
I totally agree with you "why give 20 wks if the time frame doesn't allow for it?"

I want to let you guys know about the letter that I recieve.
The new law provides up to 20 weeks of EUC benefits in the states with a rate of 8.5 percent or higher, which includes NEW JERSEY! Please do not get confused you must get the 20 weeks regardless if it is 2009 or 2010. OK

Then using logic, Tier III and Tier IV do not come under the 2009 deadline, period.

That makes no sense Taurus because we are going to get all of our money! You will see! If thats the case then if I am getting $6,000 I would only get $1,000 something because its gonna end this year.. No people your getting the facts wrong. like someone told me I wouldnt get it because my benefits ended in August bunch of crap. My friend works for unemployment and we are going to get whats due unto us. Please stop confusing the BROAD!! PleasE!

Thanks for you opinion Taurus. It pretty much clarifies what I originally thought. As for this 6 week Tier IV issue and how it does not come under the 09' deadline. That is complete BS. Why would you enact a bill into law knowing damn well that, that proposed legislation ( Tier IV, last 6 weeks) will not be available for ANYONE that is eligible for it. Completely absurd to think that congress just happened to overlook this detail. You would think its going to be available for those of 8.5 percent or higher UE rate. Maybe that is why its appears to not be available right now. States with the higher UE % have to complete the December month and still have the 3 month avg. over 8.5 %. After Dec. #'s come in then we will know which states are eligible. Idunno just a thought/theory.
