Where does this info come from? From all I've read including the bill, news etc. this is not the case. The DOL also says they will inform you if an extension becomes available.

FYI,
The above response was to the previous post.. "If you have exhausted your EB prior to the passage of this bill, then you will not qualify for any future extended benefits..."

There's no reason to think that this extension is any different from the others. If you got the previous one, you'll get the next one. There's nothing written in the bill that differentiates it from the others. This HWD guy seems to be trying to scare the **** out of everyone. Kind of cruel don't you think? Unless HWDougherty, you have proof of this - then bring it here, please.

I was replying to the post which sated "If you have exhausted your EB prior to the passage of this bill, then you will not qualify for any future extended benefits..." to say that this was not the case and to see where the poster got the info. I followed up the first post because it wasn't clear to which post I was replying. (for some reason the original post was not quoted in my reply.) Not trying to scare anyone- the opposite. Sorry for any confusion.

All I was saying was that when a bill is proposed and voted on the 1st time, before it reaches the prersident, 100% of the time, it is modified or in return for approving it, stipulations are added on. I dont think it is going to be as easy as " everybody who ran out of EB and everybody who will run out before 12.31.09 will get 13 more weeks" There are gonna be some cutoff dates to qualify.( like your origional claim had to filed before or after a certain date) a lot of people got the short end of the stick over not getting tier 2 for the same reason. they trim off some people. I am gonna try to find the threads that talked about it way back when tier 2 first came out. People were going on and on that they missed some kind of cutoff date by just days but otherwise qualified and ended up not getting the next extension. meanwhile, that wasn't mentioned when the bill was origionally proposed but it was added in right before it got to the desk of the president.

you guys may be able to find this stuff too if you help me look. Im new here but Im not making it up. When a bill is about to be passed they always make some adjustments at the last minute before it reaches the presidents desk. No bill in history went thru 100% as it was origionally proposed before the votes. Believe me, I wish this wasnt reality. Im in the same boat as all of you but before I jump for Joy, I want to make sure my origional claim is inside their window ( if there is one). Of course I could be worrying for nothing but I do know a few things about the government system and have followed the senate and congress for years and I have a decent understanding of how they do things, what the process is. They always add stipulations to any bill. The way it was presented will not be 100% how it is finally put into law but we will know very shortly I suppose. I know this is being looked at by them with special attention but I also know how stubborn they are. There are like " ok, lets vote on it and approve it but... for us to do that lets re-write line xx to say this or that" at the last minute!

Its a power trip thing but what isn't right? Also, I recall reading something about when these things gets passed, every state interprets it a little differently.

For those looking for more information on the current Bill you can read this article over at OpenCongress.org by Avelino Maestas titled "The Unemployment Benefits Extension Explained By OC User nancym" in it their is a line where it says

"So, states with very high rates of unemployment will benefit from this bill. She narrows the scope even further:
What they MEANT to say is that 300,000 people will run out of benefits by the end of September. All those people AND anyone exhausting benefits, either now, earlier, or anytime later until the provisions of the bill expire will receive 13 extra weeks if their state qualifies in an extended benefit period."
