not sure, it usually happens relatively fast. within days to a week perhaps. Not by tomorrow or anything though. Because of the special nature of this bill, I think it will move along fast. The final terms of the bill are not officially locked in until it leaves senate on the way to white house. senate, like I have mentioned, always makes last minute adjustments but it would be in their best interest ( politically) to leave this one alone and let it ride as it was proposed. non-critical bills always get toyed with at senate level but hopefully this time, there arent any regulations. everybody to had EB really deserves this one. I just feel bad for the tier 2 people who didnt get EB becuase of the way they lost thier job. that really stinks.

Well said. I know oh so well being in a professional field that went downhill, that the unemployed need help. That's why I started some of these threads to ask, as well as answer questions. I see the bill was passed to extend benefits in the House at 7:15 pm.
Good Luck to All!

it is not passed, it is passed to go to the senate for approval and sent to the president to be put into law. this is only step 1 of 3. step 2 can toy with the terms

What's likely to happen is, the 13 week extension will be passed by the senate along with the lifting of the December 31st deadline of the previous tiers. They will more than likely be pushed back until dec of 2010.

When it goes to the senate can they not approve it? I'm not sure how the process works at all.

Yeah they can turn down the bill, but it's likely that won't happen.

Thanks.

Yes, the house passed the bill now they have to send it to senate for the REAL approval and then they send it to obama to sign. today is just a celebration of step 1 out of 3 steps.
it will most likey go thru of course it is just that senate always makes fine tuning on a bill before sending to the president to sign. Im just hoping they dont add any date regulations like " your origional claim has to be filed xx date or later or xx date before etc, to qualify. They did this to tier 1 and some people missed the deadline dates by days! Hopefully they wont add any stupid regulations.
look at it this way, this was the rules for EB ( that were added at the last minute:
- The original date of your UI claim was March 23, 2008 or later and you exhausted all Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) Tier II benefits; or
- You are currently receiving EUC Tier II benefits and exhaust your benefits with week ending March 21, 2009 or later, and New Jersey is still in an approved EB period.
I know in my case, i made the date by 20 days. that is close!
A fact is that their are some people who met the requirements for tier 1 except that their origional claim date fell outside of some date range and therefore they were denied. this did happen. my concern is that it goes the exact way it was proposed but no bill, ever in history, made it passed senate without some sort of adjustments, even if tiny.

There was an adjustment already made where all restrictions were waived. It was mentioned at the very end.
So it's understood that those who's EB has already run out will also get the extension.
