So does that mean the democrats can eventually move on with the bill regardless of how many more times the republicans object it?
(I hope, I hope!)

I worked Fun Town Pier for a year when BIG JOE Ran the place. I worked for R.E. Ent. out of California redesign amusement rides across country. Went on a job their and stayed until Joe died. In the summer the motels are dirty and I would not stay in one, Fun Town gave me a house instead so I would stay. In the winter Seaside Heights, and Seaside Park tern into a crack infested, dangerous place!!! They move in section 8 into all the summer rentals. Most the people are nuts and heavily on drugs. I would take North Camden over that place!!! As far as life after EB-2 BEING SPENT IN SEASIDE. You would be better off teaching your kids to hop trains south where they might have a chance to find a kind hearted slaughterhouse owner to teach them to bleed out hanging cows for a living. Better than the guy running the block teaching them to sell crack.

If so, other options would be "closure" that requires 2/3 majority which the Dems have OR "Reconciliation" that requires majority of 51 votes. We will se tomorrow at 9:30am.

By asking for more information and by saying they are working on amendments, Republicans are engaging in "filibuster" -- derived from a Dutch word meaning "pirate" -- which means "efforts to hold the Senate floor in order to prevent action on a bill."
There are two ways to break a filibuster in the Senate: "cloture" and "reconciliation."
Cloture: The term is not "closure" -- it is "cloture." Cloture is a motion generally used in the Senate to end a filibuster. Invoking cloture requires a vote by 3/5 of the full Senate. If cloture is invoked, further debate is limited to 30 hours.
By calling for cloture -- if Reid can get 3/5 of the full Senate [60 votes] to support the motion -- he can limit the stalling of the Republicans. While cloture does not force a vote, it does close down the stalling.
Reconciliation: Reid can sidestep the Republicans altogether through "reconciliation."
Under normal Senate rules, it requires 60 votes in the 100-member Senate to shut off debate and force a final vote. Under reconciliation, a simple majority -- or 51 votes -- can force anything through.
When he mentioned the possibility of "reconciliation" this evening, Sherrod Brown was warning Republicans that if they didn't move on this issue now, they would be cut out of the loop completely and have no voice in amending the proposed bill.
"Reconciliation" is a testy issue for both the Democrats and the Republicans after all the fighting that has ensued over Health Care Reform. And Reid may be delaying calling for reconciliation on the unemployment extension since he may also have to use it to pass the final Health Care Reform bill.
We'll just have to see who blinks first...

Staring matches suck. Let's hope Reid and supporters continue having a backbone.

I don't know where you find all this good info but it certainly is appreciated! Now let's keep our fingers crossed that they finally finish this up tomorrow with no more childish games from the republicans...

Given the unemployment figures and the fact that everyone knows the shape of the economy and the lack of jobs, this situation never should have continued for this long. As Sen. Reid has stated too many times, the Republicans have done nothing but objected and held up the senate time after time. They should be ashamed of themselves for stateing how much the American people need help, and then blocking every effort to give it to them. Let's hope that today this finaly gets settled, I know too many people who can not hold out much longer.

Hi Everyone, i am new here but want to say something on this subject. I to am out of work and will need them to pass this bill, but i read that the republican's dont want to pass it because the money will come from the result of raising taxes , they want the money to come from the stimulus surplus money. Now i think thats a good point , why raise taxes and waiste the surplus on something else to prolong this economic mess. We dont need more taxes and waisted money like the banks got , we all know where that money went. The country need to make the best decisions on how to recover the right way instead of putting us in deeper. I hope this will get resolved soon with good decisions. Good luck everyone.

I think we need to start contacting the media. Lets all start blasting the news channels and get some more media on the situation. Let our voices be heard !
