Default Hoboken: Moving In Day?

I tried researching this on my own but didn't come up with any restrictions that I could find (although I am sure there is).

I am moving into a Garden Street apartment and will have a moving truck. Are there any rules when it comes to parking your moving truck on the street while bringing your furniture into the apartment? Are there certain days that are limited to this? Do I notify the city, police?

Thank you so much. Everyone has been so helpful on this forum!

The best way too go is to call the city police and ask them. I don't think anyone on this forum is going to be able to give you exact info since even if they don't have a problem with your moving van being on the street certain days maybe a problem (for example the town I'm moving to gave me certain days where I could not have my POD placed on the street becuase they are going to be repainting lines) garbage removal or street cleaning days may also be a problem. Good luck with your move!!!

You need to go to City Hall ahead of time and "buy" signs to put up on the street several days in advance. Any moving day is fine -- the signs tell people not to park in front of your building. They charge a little (about $10) for the signs. They will tell you that the police don't enforce them but in our case, someone ignored the signs and got towed (yay!).

Nina is right!!!! This is what we had to do when moving out of Hoboken. We lived on Garden and 3+4th. The $10 is sooo worth it and if someone does park in front of the signs you just have them towed. But ppl who actually live in Hoboken know better not to park in front of the signs. Good Luck!

$10 for 4 hours, $15 for 8. You need to buy 2 signs for a typical box truck, 3 for a larger one.

A street like Garden is much narrower than Washington and you really need to get those signs. You will find it very difficult to get parking otherwise, and the cops will not be very nice about you blocking traffic....

The Parking Authority is around the back left hand side of the City Hall. Go in, back a bit and off to the left, you will see a couple of windows, brick walls, and wood framing. The window on the right is what you need. I think they are open until 8 or so on weekdays for things like parking signs.

GL!
