We use a company called Homesite. They are affiliated with Geico, so if you have Geico for your auto insurance you may want to try to bundle Homesite for your home insurance. We pay about $700/year for a 3BR house.
that seems high to me, assuming you don't live in a flood plain or on the ocean. i pay around $350 for a 5 bdrm house, and my coverage is good.
I am with Liberty Mutual. 270k coverage for $480 with tons of deductibles + a new hyundai with full coverage ~$1,450 year again with a ton of deductibles. I feel that I am ok with the insurance for the house, but for the car, not so...

Where do you live? Does the rate vary by county? We live in Essex County in a house built in the 30's. We're near the top of a hill so flooding is definitely not an issue. Our realtor told us to expect to pay at least 650/year, so 700 seemed reasonable to me.

That's pretty damn good. I have Selective and I pay $350 for a 3 bedroom house, 2 car garage with 350k replacement/contents value and 1 million liability. If my house were about 600ft further east I'd have to get flood insurance, luckily I have pretty good elevation where I am.
-Allstate wouldn't even give me a quote. I guess they want out of Jersey.
-Geico was double everyone else even though I have car insurance with them. When the rep told me the quote with less coverage ($1000/yr) I laughed and she couldn't understand why.
-State Farm was reasonable but the agent low-balled the replacement cost of my home so I was wary of using them.
I forget who the other companies were but they were higher dollar amounts with less coverage.
Tahiti, who is your homeowner's ins. co? wow. Great rate.
NJM. That rate doesn't include the dividend, which is about 10%/yr. They're the only provider I've ever had, and after reading this thread, I consider myself very lucky. They have awesome customer service as well.

Maybe it varies by whether you're urban/suburban, etc. I'm in Western Morris County. No flood issues, and my home is relatively young, that may make a difference.
I have Travelers. Your credit score can have an effect on your ins premiums.
