"must see" places in Morris county?
I will be in morris county looking at neighborhoods and towns friday and saturday (11'th and 12'th). The idea is to get a general feel for the area since it's the target area for my relocation. What streets/views/neighborhoods/towns absolutely hands down are ontop the list for places to see in morris county?
p.s. - i like hills and good landscaping....

Mountain Lakes, Madison, Chatham, Morristown - in that order. Of course it depends on how much you have to spend.....

you probably knew I'd respond . to get a great idea of morris county with some good scenery - take Rt 24 (aka 124 aka "old 24") from Chatham west into the center of Long Valley. Then have a beer at the Long Valley Brew Pub. You will go through Chatham, Madison, Morristown, Mendham, Chester, Long Valley - very pretty ride and everything has started blooming. for someone in your situation - focus on Morristown - great little town with lots to do.

I agree with everything above. Also, Boonton is a cool town you don't want to miss. There are some pretty little hamlets in the hills and lakes of western Morris too. I don't recall place names, but heading west from Morristown on Route 24 you pass through some very nice countryside.

you're right - Boonton is very cool. But I always laugh when I think of Jackie Jr. getting gunned down in the "Boonton Projects" (Sopranos for those not in the know)

Where was that scene filmed? Was it actually in Boonton? I remember seeing that episode.
As to the original poster, I would agree with the comments given. My favorite two towns in Morris County are Madison and Morristown. Madison has a quicker commute and better public schools. Morristown has more restaurants and bars and is a little bit bigger than Madison.
If you're going to be in the area, don't limit yourself to only Morris County. Go look into Millburn and Summit. Both are very nice towns with even better train access to the city than Madison/Morristown.

Some other pretty sight-seeing off 124 [AKA Mendham Rd.] south of Morristown are:
- Tempe Wick Rd. [motorcyclist dream]
- Whitehead Rd. [especially near Washington Valley Rd.]
Bicycling through Patriot's Path in this area is splendid.
Property taxes in nearby Harding are surprisingly reasonable.
Good luck!

I took route-24 as suggested, all the way to the top of the far hill in long valley. Didn't stop at the pub, but regardless the views and scenery were stunning! Thank you for this suggestion!!

I did Mendham road and Tempe wick rd, its a very cool ride down thru the forests, especially with that large pond and damn. Thank you!
I also checked out a couple of sub divisions full of sprawling mansions, SW of morristown. Friday morning I saw phily and the boardwalk in AC, then I spent an hour in morristown friday night just walking around. I spent 3-4 hours driving around rockaway/parsippany but didnt make it to boonton. Also i checked out downtown rockaway. I drove a section of I-280 from the parkway to parsippany, there was a very cool stretch that run thru some steep cliffs not so far from the city. Lastly i spent saturday night in NY. After this trip I know this is definetely the area I will move to, sometime in June. Also my "tag-along" friend now wants to live there, he was supposed to be just along for the ride, haha. Had a blast, thanks everyone!!
