We buy a home and wanted to finish the attic into 2 rooms so that we have the space when family comes over and finish the basement to entertain "and live WELL". My Husband gets transferred to another location which causes us to have to move. Now we find out that we have to get permission to do upgrades and expansions such as "Drywall". We get the third degree because we made our home more livable. I mean it is the inside of the house and it does not interfere with the structure AT ALL.......We are not over 5 1/2 feet and we are told that the basement has to clear 7 feet. The basement had lighting and we just added the drywall and added the fixtures and that was a bad thing. Because now they consider that as LOTS OF ELECTRICAL WORK BEING PERFORMED. OK, so again, it doesn't change the structure of the home AT ALL, but it is an issue. If one knows how to perform those types of jobs, why do we have to get permits. It is our house, which we pay mortgages for and taxes of over $7000.00. I am so frustrated because New Jersey Government doesn't think they are getting enough money when they charge FOR EVERYTHING. PERMITS, LICENSES, TAXES OUT THE WAZZOO..........ON EVERYTHING.........Bridges, tunnels, tolls. Everything is HIGHER IN NEW JERSEY - WHY???????????????? Who can be so money hungry. Florida has beaches, city life to INCLUDE DISNEY WORLD and they don't get out of hand with taxes and raising tolls every year. We understand the need to maintain, but maybe we need to charge some more taxes on condos, townhomes and how about the apartments. I think you get enough from the homeowners.........
So basically you wanted to live in a nicer home than your neighbors but not have to pay more in property taxes for that honor? Selfish much?

no clue, i didn't write the software and could care less about reps. bottom line, you start with 10, and you get 2 (i think) for each rep in a state forum, so thanks for giving our troll a rep!
