I just got a job in Plainsboro and my boyfriend needs to commute to Phili about twice a week (the rest of the time he will be working remotely). What areas would you suggest we live in? He's hoping to take a train from where we live into 30th street.

I'm looking for a more city like community - or at least something that has nice resteraunts and has some local attractions. Any advice??

Thank you!

Being he wants to take the train, Princeton, Hamilton, Trenton, and Cherry Hill come to mind. Princeton or Hamilton might be the best options - I wouldn't want to commute to Plainsboro from Cherry Hill every day. Both have good restaurants and plenty to do, although Hamilton is very much suburban, not city like.

One place that comes to mind is Yardley, PA. It's a nice little village on the Delaware River, across from West Trenton. It's not really "city-like" but there's a little main street and some restaurants. The surrounding townships have lots of beautiful rolling hills, parks/trails, some landmarks like Washington's Crossing, an old steam railroad that you can ride, Sesame Place. and you're close to Trenton, New Hope, Lambertville, and other fun places.

For your bf, there's a SEPTA station in Yardley (R3 Line). For commuting to Center City it would probably be better than Jersey towns because you can take the R3 directly into 30th ST. From Jersey you have to switch trains in Trenton (annoying).

For you, it would probably be annoying getting up Route 1 toward Plainsboro, though. I'm not sure exactly how bad the traffic is between Morrisville and Plainsboro, but I don't imagine it's great.

Default New place near Princeton & Phil

Actually you can catch the SEPTA train in West Trenton. It's the first stop on the train line, Yardley is 2nd. I take it to HUP (hospital) all the time.

if you wouldn't mind the commute from yardley to plainsboro, that would be the place, houses cost about the same but everything else is cheaper, property taxes, income taxes and car insurance will all be less than if you lived in NJ
