To repeat, name calling is a sure sign you've lost the intellectual argument. Hope that's not an oxymoron.

Obama Suffers Historic Drop in Approval Rating

Thursday, October 22, 2009 2:13 PM

By: Dan Weil

President Obama’s approval rating dropped to 53 percent in the third quarter from 62 percent in the second, according to Gallup.

The 9 percentage point decline is the largest for an elected president during that period of his first year in office that Gallup has ever recorded, going back to 1953.

President Truman suffered a 13 point slide in the third quarter of 1945, but of course he wasn’t elected to his first term in office.

Obama’s 9 point slump was one of the steepest for a president during any portion of his first year in office. Bill Clinton topped the list for elected presidents with an 11 point dip between the first and second quarters of 1993.

Obama was hurt by Americans’ growing disenchantment with healthcare reform and an unemployment rate that rose to 9.8 percent in September.

Obama’s 53 percent rating puts him near the bottom of the list for presidents at the same time of their tenures. Only Clinton had a lower third-quarter average among elected presidents – 48 percent. Gerald Ford averaged 39 percent during his third quarter in office (1975).

Obama's third quarter rating also places him below average for any president in any quarter, going back to 1945. Out of 255 presidential quarters measured by Gallup since then, Obama’s 53 percent rating earns him 144th place.

To be sure, several polls, including Gallup, The Associated Press and ABC/The Washington Post, show Obama’s ratings rebounding this month.

If a new poll from the Washington Post and ABC News is any indication, the GOP is in the worst shape it’s been in nearly three decades. Asked which party they identified themselves with, 33% said Democratic while just 20% said Republican. I wonder if this has anything to do with the Tea Party movement, Birthers, and Town Hall Crazies that seem to represent the new face of the GOP.

Town Hall Crazies? Why is it that when people get passionate about WHAT THEY BELIEVE IN AND NOT
WHAT THE GOVERNMENT WANTS THEM TO BELIEVE they are called "loons, crazies" unamerican, etc.
I'm not happy with this new President who has put in Czars and is attacking every fiber of our society.
I'm happy with my health insurance and my husband is happy now with his medicare plan. We are saving
money since he went off his private insurer at 65...Why mess around with it? Do I feel that all U.S. citizens (notice I said CITIZENS) should have health insurance? sure, but everyone should pay their share of it..Now they are going to penalize small businesses who can't afford to pay insurance for their
employers so what will that do? It will end up losing more jobs.....People please wake up...Wish I could
be there for the tea party....Good Luck.

I don't understand the "czars" argument against Obama. Don't people realize that Reagan instituted czars? Can someone explain what the mere creation of czars--signifying some kind of pseudo-cabinet member position who oversees a problem or an area that needs public policy attention--means anything? If it does mean anything, than what is it, exactly, that you think it means? Certainly it is not Stalinist, as Reagan created the first Czars, right?

This man Jeffery Weingarten is not who he claims to be. Research his shady past for yourself and then decide if you want to be involved with any organization that he is involved in. Beware ~ this man is not who he claims to be.
