but i thought if you were eligible for a new claim on your anniversary that it would supercede any extensions?
Also maybe some can figure this out. If Someone made about 30K in 15 weeks time for the benefit year, are they only eligible for 15 weeks of compensation even though it was 51 times the max benefit rate?

Call Early
If you read post #7, my 1 year anniv. will be on Sunday Nov. 1st and upon advice from diorgirl I called today Friday Oct. 30th. After a little wait time the rep. asked if I was working yet and that was it. She said to continue filing as usual because she updated the file. If I was you, I would call a few days before your time is up so as to not cause any lapse in your benefits.

Not sure what you mean (or if you are even referring to my post) but I am not on a new claim after the 1st anniversary - it's still the original "date of claim".
Per the " blue book":
"TOTAL AMOUNT: The total amount of benefits you may
be entitled to collect is called your MAXIMUM BENEFIT
AMOUNT (MBA). The total amount of benefits you may
receive is determined by multiplying the number of base weeks
you worked during your base year by your Weekly Benefit Rate,
up to a maximum of 26 times your Weekly Benefit Rate.
For example, an individual files a new unemployment claim
dated March 8, 2009. The base year period for this claim is
October 1, 2007 to September 30, 2008. During this period, the
individual made $300 per week and worked 22 weeks. This
person would be entitled to receive a Weekly Benefit Rate of
$180 (60% X $300) and a Maximum Benefit Amount of $3,960
($180 X 22 = $3,960)."
MY Opinion only: It looks like the initial claim would be for 15 weeks before any extensions come into the picture. Hopefully I'm wrong.

thats crazy, because whats going to happen is, if i dont get back to work by my anniversary date, they are going to start me on a new claim in August of 2010. If i did my calculations right my base eyar will be from April 1 2009 to march of 2010. In that time I only worked 15-17 weeks but made about 32k. I would only be eligible for 15 weeks at the max rate. that sucks, but hopefully there will be some extensions in place.

Chubz,
You probably meant April 1 2008 to March of 2009. But that would appear on your Monetary Determination. Would your claim be exhausted by 12/20/09? Many of us "unemployed with experience" folks are patiently waiting for the it's-any-day-now extension, but you are in your first semester! There is pending legislation that would change that 12/20/09 date below.
Fingers crossed
---
Who is eligible for EUC Tier I benefits?
The EUC extension applies to claimants:
- Who are unemployed during the EUC period which began on July 6, 2008 and will end with EUC claims filed December 20, 2009;
- Whose regular unemployment insurance benefits are exhausted or whose benefit year has expired;
- Who are not eligible for a new regular unemployment insurance claim against New Jersey or any other state;
- Who filed a New Jersey claim dated May 7, 2006 or later; and
- Who have 20 base weeks in base year or base earnings of at least 40 times the weekly benefit rate in the UI claim base year.

"if i dont get back to work by my anniversary date, they are going to start me on a new claim in August of 2010"
I'm lost on this. If you are not back to work by your anniversary date you are supposed to call and basically have them "re-boot" (reopen) the original claim.
(blue booklet page 3)
If you received benefits on an unemployment insurance claim, you
must have worked since the beginning of that claim to qualify for
another unemployment insurance claim after the first claim’s benefit
year ends. You cannot go from one claim to another successive claim
without working in between. Two claims cannot be based on the
same separation from work.

Chubz, are you on initial claim or Tier I? If tier I, you will go into next year to finish as shown below from NJDOL website.
Who are unemployed during the EUC period which began on July 6, 2008 and will end with EUC claims filed December 20, 2009;
The first week for which EUC Tier I benefits were paid was the week ending July 12, 2008. No EUC Tier I benefits can be paid for any period after week ending June 5, 2010.
According to above, you cannot start Tier I after Dec 20,09, unless they (Congress)changes the deadlines.

At your 1 year mark, you re activate you claim the next time you certify after 1 yr by contacting someone at unemployment. They will reactivate your claim and certify you, then you are good to go!

Taurus - would you say the same for the two-year mark? Assuming one is actually still collecting of course.

I don't know what happens then, but we will hit 79 plus 20 (new extension) = 99 wks!
