i dont live in a glass house.

speaking of education, i know many young people these days are opting to continue education and get a masters rather than enter the job market in its current state. it seems to me that in the future, you are going to need a masters in order to get a good job.

You know one really has to think back to the "Great Depression" and wonder if things are this bad imagine how bad Americans had it back then. I would love to read some of the personal survivor storys and what things they had to do to get by. I read somwhere that our recession is affecting the globe. And god what is the American dollar going to be worth soon?

I am heading to the Library this evening to browse around and to try and see if I can find "The Glass House". Any other recommendations would be great. I think I want to read a book that is Fictional that takes me away from everyday norms and just engulfs my imagination. I wish the Senate would write a fictional book it wouldn't have to be lengthly.

Title would read UNEMPLOYMENT & EXTENSIONS:

WHEN YOU OPEN IT UP THERE WOULD BE ONLY ONE PAGE AND IT WOULD READ:

Once upon a time in a far away land "not america" there lived a group of people that called themselves government and they over saw everything political in this wonderful land. There was another group of people they called themselves white and blue collar workers. Most of the white collar workers were financially stable but these blue collar workers were really having a hard time finding and keeping work. The ones that had no choice went on a program called unemployment and collected money from which they had been investing in from years of work. They were in troubled times. Until a sub group in government called the Senate stepped in and extended Unemployment Benefits and Extensions for those hardworking people of the land. Senate group gave four extensions that lasted into 2010 for a total of 4. The collared workers rose up with emotional glee tears of joy streaming down their faces for their government had come threw and made their lives so much better. The people of the land started to chant millions of them chanting. WE LOVE SENATE, WE LOVE GOVERNMENT, FA LA LA FA LA LA. over and over again. And so the story ends and everyone lived happily forever after.

The End

I Seriously have to much time on my hands. But seriously I can keep saying this till my face turns blue but thanks for coming and expressing your opinions and posting your facts and information everyone. I/we should only hope that we are able to get more users posting and keep up with good conversation. So Thanks Again and tell People to come on over and post with us.

You're absolutely right there, a more competitive job market creates higher job requirements. I work as a legal assistant, now a BA is expected in many law firms and a paralegal certificate on top (so law firms ((particularly those dealing with insurance companies)) can bill paralegal time). When I started 11 years ago, no college was required at all.

I like biographies because it shows how people face tremendous adversity and yet succeed in their fields. People that have dreams, often those around them just humor them or perhaps think they are nuts. Those with dreams need a tremendous inner strength and drive that no one can break. Walt Disney is a great biography or Max Fleisher (Betty Boop creator). Theodore Roosevelt's biography is fascinating or Louis Armstrong. I'm in the middle of Bette Davis' biography now.

Yes, We all know that education is key. I'm seeking to return to school for computer programing/engineering. I received A+ Certifcation, but was unable to complete the course....job was too demanding, having us work overtime without pay. There is an class action law school for that Major Insurance company from what I heard from media reports. When I am abled, off to school it is. After which I will focus on starting my own business. Good Luck to you and everyone else

Did I miss something..the book stevemorse mentioned was "The Glass Castle" not house..unless someome brought up a different one...Now, here's my two cents: I don't drink but could appreciate "Are You There Vodka, It's Me Chelsea" and "My Horizontal Life" both by Chelsea Handler (tv show host of Chelsea Lately est 11pm on E mon-fri) In a word HILARIOUS!!! I needed a good laugh and came across these this summer while I also spend alot of library time (I don't own a computer: I'm on my cell right now and the library became "The Office" for me). Now way back to quote Shilzz "Uncut,Unadulterated, Raw Emotions, Opinions that are not Sensored, Just real talk" is how I'm going to describe her books. They're not winning noble prizes any time soon but what a treat if you want a break from the anxiety and stress of these terrible times..
I LMAO and boy did I need it!!!
Good Luck ALL
