I just bought a food slicer to try and save some money on the grocery bills. Does anyone know a good place to buy wholesale cheeses and meats in northern or central NJ?
We used to go to a place called MEAT CITY in Linden on St Georges ave. When my sister came to live with us for a while it was 5 kids and 4 adults. We would go through about 8lbs of coldcuts a week with lunches for everyone.
I'd second Corrado's, they are like a restaurant supply but they have never asked me for proof of owning a business. It's almost like a wholesale club like BJ's or Costco that has no membership. They have a separate building for this, I believe it's on Crooks Ave. It's separate from the "regular" one with all the produce. I usually stop off for certain staples like rice, split peas, etc. While I'm there I sometimes buy produce out of their walk-in freezer, the prices are often better than at their other location on certain things.
do those places have better prices thatn BJ's or Costco? those were the first places that came to mind when the question was asked.
what i do for myself is buy those rotisserie chickens and i rip all the meat off of them. then i make chicken salad from them. delicious. i find the canned salmon i use is more filling though. i do not add fat to my meat salads so thats probably why the chicken leaves me hungry around 4.
