Default Moving to Cherry Hill

Hi guys. I am hoping you wonderful people can give me some insight here. I'm an ex-NYer, ex-Floridian, soon to be ex-Californian seeking a change of scenery. I have been doing extensive research on the Cherry Hill area, but most of the postings I see regarding relocation involve a family or a significant other.

I am a late 20's girl. No kids, no husband. I have family in NY and North Jersey. I have friends in NY, PA, and D.C. NJ seems like a very central location, and has all the fixings of what I want out of a place (snow, mountains to the NW, beach to the East, proximity to Phili, NYC, etc.)

I visited NJ several times over the past 8 months. I have been daydreaming like crazy about moving out there and getting out of earthquake territory -- specifically the Cherry Hill area. It seems there is a decent economy. I'm a legal assistant (finishing my paralegal certificate in Cali before any kind of move) and there seems to be a decent amount of Craigslist postings in that field.

So, what I'm asking you my trusty fellow forum readers -- Is Cherry Hill a good place for a single, late 20's girl? Or am I just starry-eyed? Any and all input about relocation tips to the area and anything about the area in general is greatly appreciated!

You could do a lot worse than Cherry Hill. Close to Philly too, so some great things to do across the bridge as well. I'd make sure the Cali paralegal certification will transfer over to Jersey (or Pennsylvania, for that matter) before moving, however.

I'd advise you about rent prices (Cherry Hill isn't a cheap town) but I'm sure you've researched that. It is probably comparable to any desirable area in Cali, for the most part. In my personal opinion, it's nicer and newer than most areas of North Jersey, and the great access to shows/bars/clubs/sports in Philly is worth its weigh in gold. If I wasn't into boating and beaching so much, that area of the state would probably be where I'd choose to live, personally.

I think it would be a great choice! Like you said its central to everything, plenty of new high end shopping stores and restaurants, nice stable, safe area. Even tho its expensive its still cheap as compared to Ca. You will love it here. You have 4 seasons and no earthquakes, tornado's or floods!

Cherry Hill tends to be (in my opinion) geared more towards families than singles. It is in a good location but a tad surrounded by some more of the busier roads and hence has a decent deal of traffic around/through it. I would look for a job first and if you end up in NJ working then I would look in towns like Collingswood & Westmont which are a little cheaper and tad more city like towns (tighter more compact areas). Also great to be RIGHT near speedline to zip in/out of Philly.

If you end up working in Philly than the two other towns still work for you due to easy train commute or maybe consider Philly. All depends on what you like and feel safe doing.

Good luck. Great area overall. 2 hours to mountains (maybe a tad less) 1 hour to the beaches. And several major cities not far. Good place. But the winters suck.

I live in Cherry Hill and it's a great area with a lot to do and very close to Philly, which I think will be important given your age and being single. You are probably already aware that Cherry Hill is suburban and as such, is mostly oriented around families. It's not a hopping place for singles. Having said that, it's a very busy and vibrant area with tons of shopping and restaurants and you are a hop, skip and a jump from Center City Philadelphia which is where you will really find all the singles action.

There are a lot of law firms in and around Cherry Hill, Haddonfield and the surrounding area so I imagine it would be a good place for you given your occupation.

We do have 4 distinct seasons which is great. Just don't expect much snow. We rarely get any significant snow storms anymore.

Please feel free to private message me if you have any specific questions. I am happy to help.

I agree with Natas. Look into Collingswood and Westmont (Haddon Township). You're likely to find more singles in your age group there - plus its very convenient if you want to go into Philly.
