I'd suggest Metuchen or Highland park if you can afford it, and Edison or South Brunswick next.

I would actually go:

1) South bruns
2) Metuchen
3) Edison
4) Highland Park

Edison is going through a ton of local government uproar, from the Mayor's office to the police dept.

I'm not a huge fan of Highland park either.

Is there a reason why people don't like the Old Bridge/Sayreville towns?

Also does Edison, Woodbridge, Colonia areas have more traffic than Old Bridge/Sayreville/East Brunswick?

I LOVE South Brunswick. My sister lives in Kendall Park and I just love that entire area. However, its a bit further than I'd want my husband to commute.

Old Bridge / Sayreville seems a little trashy to me.

Monroe and Jamesburg have good schools (Jamesburg kids go to Monroe) and Milltown's kids are bused to Spotswood, I believe.
I believe the homes are more expensive than East Brunswick unless you are looking for an older house near Spotswood. The taxes will go up soon b/c the new High School is near completion.

Default Home Values - Zillow, cyberhome for East Brunswick

We looking for single family homes in E Brunswick. Can we rely on zillow, cyberhome etc to decide Market value ? I am seeing values on these websites about 20-25% less than Listing price. As expected our realtor is suggesting we ignore these values . My other concern is Mortgage Approval with such big difference.

Thanks

Old Br. Sayvre. are just a little further from your work locations plus the parkway traffic will be bad.

Actually, it wouldn't be that bad. I grew up in East Brunswick, and the commute to get to the turnpike is a wash getting to Exit 9 than it would be getting from the Dayton/Monmouth Junction sections of South Brunswick to Exit 8A. Kendall Park is a different story.

8A to 9 at 75 MPH is less than 7 minutes.

I agree with S.T.L., South Brunswick sections of Dayton, Monmouth Junction are a good fit, easy commute north, nice area, great schools. East Brunswick would come in second place, all others mentioned a far distant third.
