How Corrupt is West New York, NJ? (Sussex: home, license plate)

I received a failure to apply for a parking ticket in West New York, NJ.

At the time I was at home 60 miles away in Sussex Co and my wife was also home, and thus my car was. I have no way of proving I was at home as I wanst doing anything in particular at the time they say. No description of the car is present; just my license plate.

I heard something about some police depts running a scam and just picking random people to get their quotas done.

Otto, many times the wrong plate is entered. If they have no description of the auto I would call and explain. Maybe u can send a notorized letter to the court. Do you ever go to WNY, if no is the answer I wouldn't pay it. The only thing that sucks is if they make you come to court to fight it, it might not be worth sitting on 60th Street for 4 hours to save 42 bucks.

I doubt they are trying to scam you. MAAAAAAYBE a car that was local to the area but wasn't actually illegaly parked, but just picking a license plate number out of hat? I highly doubt it. If a cop was really hard up for his quota I coud see them going for stuff that isn't usually inforced like Jay walking or whatever and in a congested area like WNY i'm sure there are plenty of double parking tickets to go for.

I think it was an honest mistake. You should fight it.
