Wayne(has some pricey areas)- but near by is Little falls,Booton, Caldwell, Verona,> a little further in the same direction ,but reasonable and nice is Montclair & Bloomfield

Beats the commute , just the 8 dollar toll at the GW every day would get me to pack my bags

I moved here from queens too From your original post it sounds like you don't really want to leave there, i'm assuming you have friends there and plan on visiting? Please don't move to passiac county right off the bat you're going to be very isolated from everything you are used to! (Nothing against passiac county, I actually live there now) If you really want to still be close to Queens I would go for Lyndhurst or North Arlington nice safe suburbs with a little bit of a grittier edge than the super suburban towns in most of NJ. You'll be close to the city and queens and very close to hoboken for nights out. You're commute to Wayne will be about 35 minutes depending on what part of Wayne. If you want a shorter commute a little further away from the city I'd say go with Clifton or Montclair, nice towns slightly urban not too far from Wayne lots of rentals. Montclair is cuter and there is more to do IMO. Clifton is also nice but be careful some parts are sketchy, drive around a lot before you sign a lease.

What part of queens are you from? I can possibly suggest a town with a similar vibe

good luck!
