Do we need winter/snow tires in NJ?
Do we need to change to winter/snow tires in North NJ? Is it required?
What kind of tires do you use?
I drive Hyundai Tucson 2 WD

The tires on cars are all season. You might check with a dealer for other options.

I use snow tires. It is well worth the money for our safety. I got a set of 4 for like $325 including mount/balance. Much better control in the snow, cold rain, slush, sleet, even just cold roads. This is my 3rd year using them, too.

your Hyundai is fwd so all seasons are just needed. If you have a rwd vehicle snows are a MUST to get around in the snow

If you don't have 4WD then you should have snow tires . Of course if you buy a set of snow tires then most likely we won't have much snow.
All Season tires are not snow tires, they are made for dry and wet conditions, that is what All Seasons stands for as far as tires are concerned.

I think you only need snow tires if you are an avid skier/snowboarder and plan to chase storms and drive while its snowing or if you have a job where you have to drive out in the middle of the night or early morning before the roads get plowed. Otherwise you can prob go without snow tires.

I haven't seen snow tires as regular equipment since the 80's. Back then, many non-radial tires were still on the road and didn't perform well on snow or ice. Nowaways, virtually every tire out there is a radial, all-season design, which is fine for all but the most brutal snow.
My advice would be to stick with the all-season tires that are on your car already, and if it snows really bad (rare in NJ anymore it seems) just stay home- the roads will be cleared soon enough.

incorrect,. ALl season is just that.. ALL season. I have not had snow tires since the old rwd/non 4wd days. Like 30 years ago. Do your research..
