We've had ZERO trick-or-treaters, and I live in one of DC's largest suburbs. Count yourself blessed to have even had just a few.

About four years ago, I stopped waiting home for just five kids to show up and no longer celebrate Halloween. I got tired of having so much candy left over. It's sad.

We had 0 trick or Treaters and I live in A quiet subdivision at the Brentwood Border of Nashville, TN I was thinking that maybe because the churches here had Trunk or Treat, where the parents go with candy, and the kids go from one car trunk to another in the church parking lot. Everyone knows each other at this event, 0 strangers.

Jeez! Maybe you all should move to South Brunswick.
I have about 50 to 60 trick-or-treaters of all ages. Seemed like this year lots of lady bugs, fairies, and princesses. I did have a few older kids (14-16) too. One group all wore their uniforms from the teams they play on. Another group were NBA players, that is, they wore NBA jerseys.
Highlight was the Halloween Ride of a group of people who rode their motorcycles around local streets followed by a 1942 Chevrolet hearse. Best motorcycle had to have been the one with Santa on it and a fully lit Christmas tree on the second seat.

I really think kids trick or treat to *strangers* homes less these days...
I know all my nieces and nephews go to parties at school / dance class / trunk or treat /etc, and then hit up their neighbors, and the grandparents' neighbors.... but thats it. They don't hit up *strange* neighborhoods like I used to growing up.

I guess I'll buy candy and come to your house next year.
When I got back home from with the food, teenager and his friends were sitting on the porch with the candy bowl and I asked him what he thought about the poor turnout. He surmised that everyone was sick. He works at a pharmacy so I can see that assumption. I can't quite remember, was it a slow Halloween post 911? Probably.
I guess all sorts of things attributed to the slow night here. Most likely towns, churches, clubs had parties for the children, in part because of the flu scare. It did eventually start to rain here too...I turned off the light.
I'd worked in the yard this afternoon and was washing up when the first round or two of children arrived. The last child who came to the door was dressed as a wizard...wish I'd seen a lady bug.

Here in Tampa had a lot less than previous years. They usually start out after dark. I remember taking my kids out after 4:00 in NJ. We had a few older kids knock on our door at 9:30, even though we had already turned off the lights. It was very hot today (89 degrees). Maybe people didn't go out for very long because the heat or the rain up by you.

I went out around 7 to drive to a movie and didn't see any kids, atleast not dressed up. This game who ever is playing should have had it the day before or after halloween.

We went out for the day, so thought we'd do something nice and leave a pot full of candy on our front stoop.
Someone stole it. Pot and all.

Last year we had close to 100 kids show, 3 pumpkins stolen, and the neighbors car was egged. This year, nothing.
Kids didnt start showing up by me till around 4pm. By 7 it was over Johnny. I gave out to about 10 kids and my MIL said only 2 came to the door while I was out with my son and nephew. We walked about 10 blocks (kind of 10 anyway, cause they are huge and nothing is square around here) We filled my sons little spiderman bucket 3 times and my nephew made out like a bandit. Once it started getting dark, people were giving HANDFULLS just to get rid of it.
