I could never vacation in a country where you're advised to stay in the resort.

that what we were told at Couples in Montego bay. In fact at night there were armed guards walking the beach to keep the locals away from the resort. Truth..

I would say if you are not scared walking around in Camden, you will love Jamiaca

Jamaica isnt as bad as folks make it out to be.

Shut up, brah. Don't talk about Jamaica like that especially when you only been on the resort. You haven't even been in Camden either so why are you talking about Camden? I tell you these people giving advice on places they don't know of when they should just shut up.

The best vacation I have ever had was Goldeneye Jamaica. The resort has since changed, but amazing. It is a quite resort, small, they cater to you, you have your own private bungalow. I cannot say enough wonderful things about it. I felt like I was in heaven!

And this is based on of what? The resort you were staying on having armed guards on it? FAIL. Try walking on parts of the island first besides the resorts and the tourist attractions.

we visited the whole island. A few times. Its dirt poor and very dangerous in parts. Beautiful, but Camden poor. Sorry if that offends you but its the honest truth. Jamaica is nice if you do not want to visit the whole island on your own..

Jamaica may be beautiful, Aruba may be great, but I wouldn't spend my hard earned money in either of
those countries...You want beautiful, white sandy beaches? on the gulf, try Sanibel Island or Captiva
in florida...spend you money in the U.S. and help our economy first..I wouldn't go to Mexico if they gave
me the trip for free. just my opinion folks........

Jamaica's police commissioner resigned yesterday over concerns about the homicide rate. 1200 murders through September this year. Granted, I don't think any of those involved tourists, but when I go on vacation I don't want to have to concern myself with my safety, nor do I want to be confined to a resort.

Why go somewhere that involves keeping your guard up when there are so many other choices?

cisco2007 is on a distinguished road
I have been to Jamaica several times. I would not stay in Montego Bay. I love Negril! I don't like the big ostentacious hotels though.I have always stayed at the smaller European owned resorts. I traveled several times outside of the resort going into town and shopping. I have taken tours with a driver all across the island and never felt threatened. If people trying to sell you drugs on the beach freaks you out don't go. If poverty equals violent crime in your mind don't go. If beautiful beaches, super laid back attitude, reggae music, smoking a joint, rastafarians, constant bartering to get better deals, and uncrowded beaches interests you....you won't be disappointed. I think that the Jamaicans have such a beautiful spirit and that is truely why I go back again and again Check out Negril.com Read some of the posts on the message board and maybe you can decide if Jamaica is for you It is definately not for everyone
