Default Most Athletic State

I heard that over 50% of the 2006 nfl draft graduated from NJ high schools. That makes NJ Number 1 for football. End of story on that sport. I may not be right but I'm never wrong.

Correction, that makes NJ #1 for NFL drafts in 2006.

I follow football and that's a load of BS. If anything it's probably Florida.

In 06, it was probably Florida. In 2008, though, NJ did have 11 players selected through all rounds of the Draft which did put NJ at or near the top in total number by state.

8) Eugene Monroe - Plainfield
9) B.J. Raji Washington Township
12) Knowshon Moreno Belford
14) Malcom Jenkins - Piscatway
15) Brian Cushing - Park Ridge
27) Donald Brown - Atlantic Highlands
30) Kenny Britt - Elizabeth
65) Shonn Greene - Sicklerville
161) John Nalbone - Lawrenceville
178) Mike Teel - Oakland
253) Tiquan Underwood - North Brunswick

I remember an insane stat stating Rutgers has a high proportionate amount of kids go to NFL; I mean they may not start, but still, it's the NFL.

Regarding FL, that's true, but there was another stat showing a ton of NJ kids getting recruited to FL/MA/PA programs.

I'm not originally from NJ so not trying to pump up the state, but have plenty of friends from the area who talk about this.

Actually, I do not find this surprising at all.

I went to school with Anthony Fasano several years back, who now I believe plays for the Miami Dolphins. There were later many folks in the graduating classes before and after me who were going on to college football in locations across the U.S.

Funny thing about NJ, since compared to many other states HS football isn't the biggest deal in the world here. In some other places I've visited and lived in, they literally live and breath HS football to the point where it's kinda strange.

Did you know captains of the last 3 SB winners have been Rutgers Alum? (Peterson in 2006, O'Hara 2007, Stapleton 2008). Unfortunately there are no RU alum on the Eagles roster to carry on this tradition
