With the first Holiday without my Mom, and my Dad in grief not wanting to see anyone, its a relief that is over. To go to the inlaws and pretend everything is happy and we are just ONE big happy family was alittle too much for me. No one mentioned my mom who died in August it was put on the act and PRETEND. Lets all pretend that Marilyn is fine and the inlaws can replace her mother and miserable alive father. Thank god, ONE HURDLE OVER!!!

Just had to let this out.

By the way, I lost weight this thanksgiving.

The first of everything was the hardest for me. Just thank God that you have people in your life that understand and love you. Happy (thank God it is over) Thanksgiving......

Hang in there!!! The holidays will get a little better with time. This is the 2nd Thanksgiving since my Mom passed. Last year was almost surreal with the void she had left in our family.

This year, we couldn't travel due to DW's work schedule AND my Dad is actually having dinner with the family of a lady-friend that he met early this year.

So while we're all still missing Mom, at least Dad has something going on this year. That makes us all feel better too.

Smile Marilyn

I couldn't agree more. This Thanksgiving really sucked for me.

I'm sorry for your loss Marilyn.

With all this weight you are losing & all the muscle you are building, when are you going to let us see you?

The first of everything... yes, that's the worst. Get ready, seriously, because the first Christmas and New Year and Easter are coming. No one wants to mention the one who is gone for fear of upsetting everyone. It's wrong, but that's what usually happens.

All of my relatives die on or very near holidays; I can't even go into a Hallmark store anymore. Independence Day is the only celebration that doesn't involve baggage for me.

The Holidays are great for those who have alot of family and friends. I dont have many either and spent it alone. With everything closed there really isn't much to do, I spent the day cataloging digital photos and backing them up.
I hate cooking but had no choice with everything closed.
Just remember you're not alone, lots of us out there suffer during the holidays.

I am sorry for your loss, time doesn't heal as we never heal from the loss of our parents but time does make us wiser, more accepting and just knowing that your loved one would not want your life to stop helps get over the hurdles. Both of my parents are gone and not a day goes by that I don't miss them, but I try to always remember the good things and the laughs and joy that we shared.
