I am looking to purchase a 2BR condo with a budget of around $200k somewhere in Middlesex, Somerset or Monmouth county and am looking for suggestions of areas and condo communities. I work in Rahway so a 40 minute commute would be the limit. My preferences in order of importance are:
1) Safety - must be safe area
2) Resale value in 5-8 years (up-and-coming areas would be a plus)
3) Decent commute - accounting for traffic, no more than 45 minutes one-way
I have no kids at the moment, so school system is not important, as I plan to move out to an area with better school system in 5-8 years. I'm basically looking for a place in a good area to live in with potential to at least maintain value in this time.
Your advice and suggestions would be much greatly appreciated!!!
Look at Foxhall Condos in Middlesex Boro. Convienent location. A friend bought there about ten years ago for under 100K and now they are selling in the 200K area.
I am sure there are many others but this one is in a good location and so far resale is good.
For Middlesex County, you can try Beaver Brook in Jamesburg, Hillyer Park in Spotswood, Heather Glen in Helmetta, Garfield Park and Mill Pointe in Edison, Society Hill in East Brunswick and North Brunswick, Ellen Heath in Old Bridge, Hearthwood in North Brunswick and Wynwood in South Brunswick. Those all currently have 2 bedroom units for sale under 200k. East and South Brunswick have higher taxes and carry good school systems which is always good for resale. Edison is closest commute to Rahway because you can get on the Parkway. Jamesburg is also close to the Parkway. Hope this helps, good luck!
