Thanks guys, this really helps me too, my familiy and I are also relocating back to NJ and we are looking for rural areas as well, we have two small children and want to be near NYC to visit the family, instead of a 24 hr drive
I guess I could be flexable with the property. i just don't want neighbors looking over the fence at me. Right now I have 1/2 acre and so far 5 neighbors have come over to ask me "What's going on over there?" "What are you guys doing now?" (We're putting in a skylight!) lol
I wish the staten island thing wasn't an issue but that's where the grandkids are. (God knows why!) We need to be no more then 2 hours.
I'll look into all the places you mentioned and keep checking here for ideas.
Thanks again
I would stick to Sussex or Warren counties. Hunterdon county also has what you want except it's $$$$$.
Wantage in Sussex County
I love Harmony out in Warren county
Green Twp not sure if it's Sussex or Warren
Green is in Sussex County and the address is Andover I'm almost positive.
But yeah that's a beautiful area up there, mountains and lakes and all, let's just hope it doesn't get overdeveloped. Hard to believe it's still Jersey lol.
A little far from Staten Island, but probably not more than two hours.
My favorite town in NJ is probably Stockton. Those small hamlets along the Delaware River: Stockton, Milford, Frenchtown, Lambertville. They are all within 2 hours of Staten Island.
Try looking more towards South Jersey then. Burlington County is pretty rural, (as is the rest of South Jersey) but for the most part, the farther from the cities (NYC and Philly) and the shore the better the home price.
I live on Staten Island, my sister lives in Riegelsville. It takes me about 1-1/4 hrs to drive to her house. A 3 minute walk across a bridge and you're in PA - along Rte 611. Lots of country areas, farms, houses with nice lots. Taxes in PA are cheaper but house prices are higher.
