I stared skiing last year with my 9 year old, we tried Shawnee, Hidden Valley in Mt Vernon and Campgaw mountain in Mahawa. I would say Shawnee was better than other 2, but beginer slopes are very short everywhere. Does anyone know resorts with long gentle slopes for kids and noivce within 2 hours from Central Jersey ?

big boulder would not work for her with a 9yo. Bunch of Park rats. Jack Frost on the other hand, go for it

Hunter is pretty good, not too far for a one day trip. Has some nice tracks with fast lifts.

This place may be a bit out of your 2 hour range- but not by much- nice long beginner slopes- and very family oriented--

Ski Big Bear at Masthope Mountain (PA).

Probably the closest big ski area in NJ is what we used to call Vernon Valley, called Mountain Creek these days. SKIING IN NEW JERSEY- Ski lodges & resorts in NJ - Places to go skiing in NJ-NY-PA-CT
