We are looking at different places in and around Franklin Township. The prices seem affordable in that general area.

Does anyone have any comments about townhomes at Countryside in Franklin Twp. How is the area in general? I hope it is not very close to New Brunswick, which I would want to avoid. I am not particularly worried about High School. I have a new born - so I am only worried about elementary school. I am hearing good/decent comments about Elementary School in that general area. Any particular comments?

Anything else that I should consider? Do you have any other recommendations for a decent area other than Franklin Township? I am open to consider any other residential areas - as long as they are decent places to live in, with reasonable tax burden, and reasonable commute (I am not particular about the commute options, since I am now driving down to Liberty State Parkway park and ride and taking train from there. That said, I do not want to go to south jersey and drive down from there - which will be a horrendous commute for me. I want to keep it below 1.5 hours)

Thanks everyone for the help!

If you are concerned about being close to New Bruns, then don't plan to buy in Franklin. Franklin/ Somerset is almost synonymous with New Bruns. Schools are not that great and taxes are high for what you get. In order for people here to help you, you need to give budget and home needs.

wrong, misinformation, lies

Most of the Franklin is stunning except the portion which touches NB. Schools are below average but you get lot bang for your bucks, its close to everything, it is one of the beautiful township in central jersey.

Not sure how below average schools give you bang for your buck. I've lived in Piscataway all my life so I do know much about the area. I work in Somerset/Franklin and can tell you its nice but there are alot of other options out there. No need to state that my information is wrong or lies. Mine are opinions as are yours when you say that "most of Franklin is stunning." Inform us as to what is so stunning. Funny how I am wrong when you agree that the schools are below average. Mod cut

When you say, schools are below average, is it the case for all schools? I heard Elementary schools are ok. Comments?

I wouldn't send my kids to those schools, no way, no how.

And I also think that Franklin is FAR from the most beautiful area of NJ--maybe if you've never lived anywhere but Camden...

Check out North Brunswick. There are 3BR townhomes listed in Oak Hollow, Indian Head North, Governors Point, and Belcourt for under $300K. The NYC express commuter bus stops on Route 27 directly across from Indian Head North--it doesn't get much more convenient then that.
