I was wondering if anyone can help me. Right now, I live in Monmouth County. It takes me about an hour and a half to get into the city by bus(Port Authority) and costs me $277 for a monthly pass. I'm looking to move to Montclair in the near future to save money and time, however, I need to find out if it's worth it. I was wondering if anybody on here had information on commuting from there. I definitely am looking to take the bus rather than the train since I work l closer to the Port than Penn Station. Someone had told me that if you take NJ Transt, there are no direct buses - you have to transfer from one to another. If that's the case, it's definitely not worth it. Also, what are the prices (monthly)? How long is the commute? If anyone can provide me with any information it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
DeCamp does. My sister lived in Upper Montclair (off Grove, near Wachtung) and when I'd visit her I'd walk down Gordonhurst and pick it up on Park Street. It was a pretty quick trip, right into Port Authority.
Decamp is the best option. I think for 40 rides (a work-month back and forth) it is 220. The travel time is appx. 40 minutes to an hour. If you take the train, the travel time is about the same but the monthly cost is $154. However, be warned that the train is not always reliable and that eventually you will be stranded because of a dysfunctional train or because a train that has ceased to operate. Yes..I have been an hour and half late to work because of this, and it is not fun!
What's the closest Decamp bus stop to the Walnut St train stop? (Confusing materials they put out!)
