Where to find 1870 property ownership records for Weston, NJ? (Somerset: for sale, houses)

This is a long shot! I have a listing of a property for sale in Weston, Somerset Co., N.J. I think it dates about 1875. The problem is it does not provide an address.

Here is how it reads:

Elegant Country Seat at Weston, Somerset Co., N.J. 35 miles from New York, on the Central R. R. of New Jersey, within three minutes walk of Weston Station, four and one half miles from Bound Brook. The property consists of Eighty-two acres of land in high state of cultivation, about 5 acres laid out in beautiful lawns around the house containing five hundred and twenty seven shade trees. House contains twenty-two large rooms, (well furnished), bath room with hot and cold water. Good cellar. Six cottages, ice house (filled). Can anyone tell me where I might find the records that would reveal its ownership then? Does Weston still exist? Manville? Bound Brook? ??

Yes, thanks. By township, I assume you mean Weston. I was wondering if they had been combined/merged with Manville or some other town. I will try a telephone look up.

Bound Brook and Manville still exist. Weston is south of Manville.

I can't seem to find Weston on the internet.

I don't know, but not all towns are on the internet here. Home rule is a big deal. You should probably contact Somerset county for more info.

Weston is part of Manville, just like Royce Valley. That is where Manville's grammar school, Weston, is located at.
