I'm looking for a few ideas for great restaurants in Essex, Union, or Morris counties. Not specific with a certain type of food but just a really great place. If it has ambience, great! If it doesn't and the food is amazing, great! No chains, no fast food, no take out, just whatever pops in your head as your favorite restaurants in these areas. Restaurants in a "cool" town are a plus (i.e. Montclair, etc.).
The pickings are slim in Morris county. But off the top of my head:
Scalini Fedeli in Chatham
Il Mondo Vecchio in Madison
Mehndi in Morristown (also attached to a cool bar - SM23)
Ruths Chris in Parsippany
Grand Cafe in Morristown
Not too bad:
South City Grill in Mountain Lakes
Tabor Road Tavern in Morris Plains

In Essex County, there are several Portuguese and/or Spanish restaurants that are very good. My personal favorite is Seabra's on McCarter Highway (Route 21).
