Too bad city-data doesn't have a way to limit the number of sign-on id's one person can have.
LOL.

You start off by stating that you don't live in Newark but in your next comment, you can tell us with "conviction" that you know Newark is the worst. Your evidence.."the news" and a teacher who probably didn't live in Newark. The news is ALWAYS negative and sensational. I'm guessing you've never seen or heard about the great events that go on nightly without incident at the NJPAC and how great the new Prudential Center has worked out.
I have no problem with those who want to live in sanitized suburbs with no character. Do what you do but stop denegrating those who choose to live in places unlike your own. Newark is just fine. I'll walk to NJPAC and PC and take 20 min. train ride to NYC while you sit in traffic terrified for no reason dreaming of the gang members that are coming to get you. Oh no!! Look the boogie man!!!
Oh yeah(to whatever poster)..Why are the people standing outside Penn Station gang bangers and thugs and not just people waiting for the bus? Did they have on shirts that said "High suburbanite I'm a Gang Banging Thug"?

"Anyone who really wants to mentor should be out doing it. Not posting on city-data. Start at home while your at it.
Don't worry so much about bravery -just get at it-tomorrow is too long to wait."
How do you know that people on this board do not mentor? How do you know anything about anyone besides what they are willing to divulge? Why do you post so much on this site? Does your avid posting preclude you from being an otherwise productive member of society? Please do not respond with nastiness or sarcasm--these are just questions.

Let me give you a perspective from a law enforcement view comparing Jersey City to Newark. Newark over 100 murders a year for a long time. Jersey City 20 murders a year. Any murder is one too many. But if you compare populations according to the US Census the next census Jersey City should surpass Newark as the most populated city in New Jersey. Now if you ask me what city is worse it's a no brainer they have 5 to 1 ratio on murders. Alot of our crime is committed by thugs that come over from Newark and rob and shoot our WONDERFUL drug dealers. We wait at the bridge for the unfortunate youths to head back to Newark because they have to get up in the morning to go to work.

Inaccurate. Newark murders have been sporadic from as high as 100 in 1999 to as low as 59 in 2000, 2001 catapults back up to 96.
Regardless of 'who' is the 'who' in crime, JC and Newark have comparable crime rates:
Moderator cut: linking to competitors sites is not allowed
ps: The census is not a good indicator of JC's growth b/c as of 2006 it shows that Newark and JC have grown by 1000+ persons and doesn't account for JC's residential boom. Surprisingly, Newark has been growing every single year since 2000. JC probably will surpass Newark, but I doubt it will happen by 2010.

There are many other violent crimes that take place that do not culminate in murder. You can play with stats aplenty. Many violent crimes go unreported in inner-city areas.

Not true. I have lived in cities larger than this where the most petty of crimes are generally reported. I can give numerous examples of American cities like that. There is not the problem of community relations in regards to law enforcement that you see in places like Newark.
There are many people you could ask in real life who would back me up on this one. And yes, I'm speaking from actual experience.
