You mention concern about the work of disinformation agents but you are responsible for bringing most of them out of the woodwork by bringing back old dead garbage threads like this. Your goal is to make sure the truth is known? It must be nice to have a goal in life.
Unfortunately you seem to think you are on a mission to enlighten everyone but you are doing just the opposite. You are trying to enlighten on something you have no understanding of. How is that possible?

You are actually asking someone else to explain what your purpose is on here? Please. You seem to think you have a cause. God only knows what that is.

Any of the regular posters here avoid these threads like the plague. They know they are troll and a waste of time. They are full of inaccurate info and idiotic comments. People may be unfamiliar with Newark but they are not idiots. Newark may have had a spike in population over the last decade but much of that is due to the high cost of living in the surrounding areas. People with choices moving there is a very different thing than people with limited options flocking there. Everyone here seems to understand that except for you for some reason. LOL.

If you start threads with things like "Newark is the only place I can afford" you would not expect people to repsond with encouragement. If someone with options wants to move there and could choose any scenario they please-well that is an entirely different circumstance. But most people with common sense are aware that that is the exception and not the rule. If you start threads with things like "I am a crazykid with no money" or "I am a poor blonde women with 2 kids" of course people will try to steer them elsewhere.

Do you actually think the low income residents and families who make up the majority of the "new" residents over the last decade are enjoying benefits of renewal? That ten year old would know better. But you? You are at a loss for some reason.

You should be over the moon that anyone has bothered to respond to any of these threads over the past year. Junk threads or whatever you want to call them. It's not like we don't know a fake poster when we see one. Most of the people who bother to respond are not going to respond with anything genuine. Of course they're not. If you had anything valid or revelatory to say you would at least have the possiblity of a few genuine responses. That is obviously not of any interest to you. Trash threads are not going to teach people anything. Most regulars on here skip right over these so called "Newark" threads now.

Your "truths" are nothing but nonsense and that's why these are pile-on threads as you say. That is the only "truth" of any of your posts here so far. Pile-on indeed. At least that comment was enlightening. A first.
You're the one responding, LOL!!!!!! Again you've said a lot of nothing. My purpose is to dispell rumors and nonsense perpurtrated by folks who don't know. Uh..at least I have a purpose. What's yours and the other people who do nothing but repeat what they've "heard" about Newark. People start threads for real info. The majority of new residents in Newark are middle to high income like myself. Newark (good or bad, depending on how you feel) is in the early throws of gentrification. New condos are popping up, 1180 Raymond is up and almost FULL, major retailers are scouting for prospective locals in the downtown area, Prudential Arena is open and THRIVING! Those are the things that you and many of your fellow haters selectively omit from your posts.

I know it's the American way to not listen to those who are actually in a location(see Iraq) and believe the un-truths spewed by someone with no knowledge of a situation(see Bush) and simply repeat the non-sense without validating it in any way.

As far as these threads. How are you haters helping someone make an informed decision on Newark by spitting out stats and or news clippings? You get stats from city-data!! These pile-on (don't try to steal that!!)threads live because people like yourself can't except that someone can oppose your views thus forcing you to reply, especially when those views are not supported by purpose.

Oh yeah..how do you know who skips what thread? Are you doing a poll? Get over yourself.

People start these threads for real info? Oh, please. Like attracts like and these garbage threads of yours will never be anything more than pablum.
Anyone can google info on chinese restaurants and condo projects. It is obvious that you don't live in NJ anywhere.
Your posts give you away. I'm sure you have no clue why that is. When the rare sincere post shows up here in regard to this topic- you ignore it completely.

Now you are giving your views on Iraq?

It is obvious that anyone with anything valid to say is skipping your threads. There is no need to take a poll. We all know you are responsible for the worthless stats and cut/paste stories. You probably have more alters on here than Sybil.

I hope you do get to visit someday as Newark will certainly be graced by your presence. I'm sure it would be the cultural opportunity of a lifetime for you. In the meantime, can you recommend a gynecologist in the best of neighborhoods? One with good Chinese nearby? I have to write a paper and would love some of your special expertise. Thanks in advance.

Thanks.

Tell your friends I said Welcome to one of Americas oldest and great large cities. A city that was very racist up-to the time of the civil rights movement and did not improve until that racist bigoted element found new digs in Livingston and Short Hills and so on.

There was a time only 35 years ago that blacks and the like were not prmitted to walk on certain streets in Newark particularly in Weequaic and Forest Hills. Weequaic was a horror for blacks in terms of the racism.

Now I enjoy the 18 hole golf course (new club opening 2008) and the huge maple trees.

I refuse to let anyone tell me how bad Newark is after what blacks and the like had to go through just to get into the city.

Strange that with all that bigotry and racism Newarks reputation stayed very well heeled and acceptable. I guess to most people racism and bigotry is OK and thus does not hurt a communities reputation.

Its funny how people pick and choose what makes something good or bad.

Like "white lies" are good lies.

To me a lie is a lie...Period.

Thats petty sad.

At lease with a drug dealer I know what he wants and the law can deal with him directly. A racist and a bigot can walk around with thier Godless unlawful acts in full light without any real reproach.

Both are criminal elements and must be pushed out.

When did Newark get (or ever have in the past 2-3 decades) a "well heeled and acceptable" reputation? Did I miss something on the news lately? Everything I've read in the papers, see on the news, etc., has shown Newark to have a rather corrupt reputation.

Ohh...wait....Bon Jovi played there last week- I guess everything is all better now.

Hello to you who is interested in moving to Newark...
I used to work in their medical school and did live outside of the city. I would not recommend moving to that area by no means. I would drive to work and back through Newark but always made sure to lock my doors. Once during daylight hours i feld like in a crime movie-- while driving home there were police helicopter overhead and people running everywhere. I dont think you want to experience something like that and to always feel uncomfortable living in such a city. Goodluck anyhow!

Well said Area Knowledge, after reading some of these posts most of the posters athink that Newark is Palm Springs or Beverly Hills. Its Newark there is a saying" It is, What it is ". It is far from a "desirable" place to move to.

Racism is not limited to Newark or NJ for that matter. You post as though this is something you have uncovered recently and need to warn everyone about.

This has been part of American life since its founding. It is not about golf courses and condos and Starbucks.

You don't have the language or relevant experience to facilitate a discussion on issues of race-or on Newark and places like it. That is painfully obvious.

The average ten year old in Newark would be more knowledgeable. The majority of the posters here are no better but they are not claiming to be Newark residents or acting like they are on a mission.

This is not about good guys and bad guys or the well heeled and the lower class. It isn't just about crime either, though you make it sound like that is the bottom line with everything.

No actual person with any true life experience would want to jump into the discussion here. I have to assume you have figured that out by now. You seem not to be interested in any genuine sort of discourse. Race baiting people is not helpful.

Race really can't be ignored in a true discussion about Newark or its future but if you don't have an understanding of that, there is no way to see the larger picture. There are many Newarks. They are all over the U.S.

If you reduce the discussion to crime fighting the good guys vs bad guys- it will always deteriorate quickly. The criminal element is not limited to Newark. There are much larger issues going on here. This is not about weeding out bad seeds and then all will be well. Even that 10 year old knows it.

I do live at 1180 raymond and work 2 blocks away. I got tha chinese spot from my buildings front desk. I would tell you to try but you don't live in newark. I haven't googled 1 thing on anything. That's your job. Your starting to sound like you feel guilty about having no purpose on this or any thread. You really should though because you've offered nothing. The iraq thing was analogy that i figured you wouldn't get. Remember the education thing. Also, I've never started a thread. More lies huh.

Iraq was a lousy analogy.

You start all these threads. City-Data's Sybil of the moment.

What fool would post their actual address on here?

Didn't I warn you that guilt-tripping people is a waste of time?

I offer only the obvious- It's time to get a new purpose.
