Question Migrating to NJ from Staten Island- Young Couple

Hi, All. My husband and I are looking to move to NJ from Staten Island, NY primarily due to the incredible real estate market and decline in the quality of life. We need somewhere with an easy/convenient commute to downtown NYC and Jersey City. Our target price is around $370K. We've visited Union, Putnam Manor- disappointed with some research we've done on the outlook. We've also checked Roselle Park (disappointment), Kenilworth, Clark, Cranford, Westfield..Most we can't touch. We don't have children, but we do plan to have a family, so schools are important as well. Any suggestions?

Woodbridge would be a good option. You can either take the trains to JC and NYC, or drive in of you prefer. The schools are good, and the town is convenient to just about everything (including Staten Island if you need to head back to visit relatives/friends).

I've got a house that may fit your needs. PM me if you're interested.

Bob

Hi Guys,

I just registered to this site and I was happy to see your question because I was going to ask the same question. Me and my wife are in the same predicament as you guys. We are young couple from S.I and looking to move to NJ and our budget is also around $375. We haven't really checkedout so many areas yet but I'll tell you what I 've seen and where the price range fits. If you haven't you should check out Federal Hill at Perth Amboy: Kaplan Community
It is a big community coming up there. They already have the First two phases of townhouses up all of them with 3br, 2.5 bath and 2 car garages. Their phase 3 just opened which has a great affordability with the price range from $289 - $335 with condos/townhomes. Also in Carteret they have: Kaplan Community
That just opened as well and within your price range. There's also Riverwalk at Rahway, just google it, will come up. MOst of the homes there are sold. These are the 3 areas we have considered thus far but still looking and keeping the options open. All these areas are very close to S.I and commuting into the city by bus or train. I hope this information help you guys and if you guys have any information you can also share it with us.

Thanks,

Take care

Elvis

Thanks Elvis. I just learned about Rahway, thankfully to the posting of that ny times article. Interesting. We'll keep the areas/developments you mentioned in mind. We have another appt with the realtor this Saturday. We're heading out to Garwood, Colonia, Clark and some more of Kenilworth. I'll post my notes.:0
