Hello all;

An ex- axe-murderer as neighbour and a double-homicide in our neighbourhood; has made me look for a safe neighbourhood. I will be working in broadway street, NYC.
1. I am looking to rent in a place that takes around 30 minutes travel time
2. Since we are one-car family; I would prefer easy access public transportation.
3. Budget is $1,300 maximum
4. Other ameneties; A library nearby
I cannot rent in Secaucus or Newport because of financial restraints. Two bedroom apartment is rented for $ 1950; which is way high for me.
I had zeroed on Newark; North Arlington and Jersey City. But lately I heard that Jersey city and Newark is not safe.
Kindly share your opinion.
Thanks
D

Hello DU:

IMHO West New York in NJ is a pretty gud place to move.
I live on Kennedy Blvd East 60th street this is what I feel

Upsides:
Great Manhattan view
Very easy and convenient public transportation to NYC (Bus no: 128, 165, 166)
Reasonably cheap (1 BHK apts around $1300)
Many places to eat (pizzas, chinese, cuban, mexican t/o)
Library

Downsides:
Parking
Lot of road noise (always ppl drivin n walking late at night which I thnk makes d place safer )
