There's a substation at the plaza around the corner from where I live in the burbs...I guess I shouldn't go there either. Ironically, as old as this thread is, I was just at Jersey Gardens yesterday (someone on my FB page was exagerating about Jersey Gardens too). You just have to use common sense and be aware of your surroundings when going into the parking lot at night, like at all malls, even where I live.

They actually just redid the mall. It's really very nice inside and there are some stores there that are great. The Converse outlet ( thats pretty muhc all i wear aside from dress shoes) is great. For my son the carters, childrens place, and disney outlets are all pretty good. My wife enjoys Coach and C21 and a few others. It's not a bad indoor outlet mall/regular mall.

i go to jersey gardens a handful of times a year as its pretty close and has good prices at certain stores. i never feel unsafe but at least 3-4 times in the last year i have seen a fight break out or some other tense situation where "security" (not cops) just watched. i do only go on weekends during the day but overall i'd rather go to shorthills or bridgewater, or GSP if i'm up to drive and deal with a bergen county mall on a saturday...

overall its safe if you practice common sense and stick to daylight/crowds but given the choice i'd shop elseware just to avoid unruly groups of teens and awful parenting

All malls attract riff-raff.

Turns out that it was the Garden State Plaza you had to worry about it.

Gotta go, I'm off to rob a bank in Bergen, because all the cops are busy at the mall.
