Hello,

I am wanting to get more information on the area in Garfield NJ. I am thinking of hopefully renting a home (1st floor) in garfield but have no idea how the schools are for my children and how the area is for living.
I am choosing places like garfield, ridgefield park and other places in bergen county but I am searching for a place to rent that is located in a good area with good schools for my children and that have affordable homes for rent (Max $1,300 a month which I have seen). I would like a place near transportation to NYC and areas near there as well.

Thank you I appreciate the help.

Hello again,

I would really appreciate the help in making my decisions. I have been looking to get some concrete answers regarding some areas in NJ to reside in but it seems as if no one could give me a hand or help me out with some information.

I really appreciate the assistance, and thank you first hand.

You're not going to get good schools if you want to rent a house at $1300 a month.

Garfield is not really a bad or unsafe town, but it is on the low end of the spectrum, and the schools are not great. Ridgefield Park would be a lot better, but schools are average at best. And again, it would be nearly impossible to rent a house for $1300 a month there.

You might be able to rent an older, no-frills garden apartment in the $1300 range in towns like Fair Lawn or Rutherford, which both have good school districts. Hasbrouck Heights, Wood-Ridge, and New Milford might also be worth checking out, although the schools aren't quite as good as in Fair Lawn or Rutherford. They will, however, most likely be a little cheaper.

Id take Ridgefield Park over Garfield. Garfield is not that nice in my opinion, but it is okay. The schools are also okay if you cannot find anything better you will be fine in Garfield.

Garfield's schools are NOT good at all. You'd be better in a lot of other towns. Garfield, Lodi & Hackensack have the worst schools in all of Bergen County.
