Irvington in my book will never fully recover intill , at for another 30 years. Way to many problems in that city , the people of Newark worked together to lower crime.

Hoboken is a tiny city with only Sinatra as a backdrop. If you've been around Newark (live or work) you'd know that as recently as '95 Newark was the single most dangerous city in the US (today's Camden)
AMERICA'S SAFEST CITY: AMHERST, N.Y.; THE MOST DANGEROUS: NEWARK, N.J. - November 27, 1996
I remember Hoboken as recently as the 80's being nowhere warehouse/crime-filled dump before all the gentrification started. Funny how fast people forget things.

Ever since Kearny JCT was built in the 90s , Hoboken Terminal hasn't been that busy. + Newark Penn is served by Amtrak which reports at least 9,000 boardings form Newark a day. + 2 Light rail lines , at least 20 bus lines , 7 future light rail & streetcar lines , its the end of the PATH line , Gobus , Greyhound, and a few others. Hoboken may have more NJT lines , & a ferry terminal ,but ever since the 90s hasn't been that busy. All of the NJ Gold Coast was a dump intill the early 90s. But that changed after the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail line was put in. & a few other things.

What are you talken about Shorebaby, Newark has 20 times more neighborhoods then Hoboken ,the neighborhood I live in has not had a murder in over 12 years, as far as Penn station vs Hoboken, the Hoboken station does not have sevices for AMTRAK, and also Penn has 70,000 people use it vs Hoboken 50,000 .

I know, I read it. What I read was that the residents were surprised because that area is generally quiet.
I've spent time in the Ironbound section. I like dogding bullets with the rest of the visitors who are enjoying their time in the Ironbound section.

Newark Penn has at least 120-30,000 daily usage compared to Hoboken's 107,000 daily with all models added aswell through traffic.

Hahahahah , the only in the Ironbound that annoys me are the homeless people , but there confined to the Newark Penn area. Unlike Hoboken and usually don't bother you , unlike Hoboken.

Hoboken is merely a tiny city with big city characteristics. If you've been around Newark (live or work) you'd know that as recently as the mid 90's Newark was the single most dangerous city in the US (today's Camden)

Who has forgotten? Hoboken was a mess 40 years ago and today is one of the most affluent cities in NJ. Has Newark made such progress?
So what if Hoboken is a small city? Again it has a much greater population density than Newark. We have people shoe horned in here and manage not to kill each other on a regular basis.

The bottom line with Newark is that it is a pretty dangerous place that has been touted as "coming back" for as long as I can remember (over 40 years). I do not believe that it has come back nor is it on track to come back.
I think Hoboken is a good example of a city that was in the same boat as Newark 40 years ago. Hoboken has clearly made great strides whereas Newark has been running in place.

Your going to make me have a heart attack , you make me so angry. You think Newark is a dangerous place , but yet you work there. You don't want the city to come back. You live in a sheltered city , and seem to have a enlarged ego. I have news for you Newark is coming back , get over it. You seem to be against anything that benefits people other then you. Sorry mods if i got a little rude , but she/he is being very offensive and stuck up.

I don't want to make this thread about rail travel however there is more traffic through Hoboken than Newark. This doesn't matter to me but is important to some so here are the facts.
