Default Union County/Berkeley Heights Questions

We have recently put an offer on a house in Berkeley Heights, located on Chestnut Hill Dr. just west of the border of New Providence. Is anyone familiar with this eastern section of BH's? We had also looked at a house on Newcomb Rd in BHts, but felt it was a bit overpriced. We are in our late 30's no kids yet, moving from Brooklyn,NY and working in Midtown Manhattan. We are trying to figure out the best way to train it to Penn Station as well. We are a little over a mile from the Murray Hill train station in New Pro, but of course we will be non-resident and wont be able to get a permit to park there. I know they have metered spots for $5/day but those are first come first serve. We are 4 miles from the closest BHts station, and probably the same distance from Summit train station. Would it be smarter to drive to Summit and pay the $10/day to park in the non-resident spots? Does anyone living in these areas try to park in the non residents areas and are their enough spots? Any other options? Any advice for a young couple new to this area would be appreciated!!

Moved to BH last year - live just west of Union. Still settling in to the town - don't really know many people yet (even our neighbors) bc we both work FT in NYC (downtown). Generally my husband takes the train from Summit - there are usually plenty of nonresident spots. Like the summit train station because it is a hub which means many more trains to and fro. Got on the waitlist for BH and never tried Murray Hill. I generally drive to Jersey City and take the ferry because i go in a little later. Hope that helps!
