1. The schools are excellent. IF you give any credence to NJ Monthly's rankings, Livingston is consistently ranked between 10-20 out of over 500 school districts. Chatham is right there too. Millburn is usually ranked #1-3 in the state. I dont know if there is really that much difference in the quality of education between the three.
2. The Cherry Hill section is nice. There are no parts of Livingston where you wouldn't feel safe at night, except possibly the mall, and even there most of the crime is limited to non-violent crimes like shop lifting, car break-ins/thefts. The Cherry Hill section is mostly 40-50 year old suburban houses. Very middle of the road for Livingston. The town runs the whole gamut when it comes to housing. You can buy a small 3 bedroom cape for $400K or a 8,000 square foot mansion for $4 million, and everything in between.
3. The bus takes 45min-1hr to get to Port Authority, depending on traffic. Most of my friends drive to the train or the path in Harrison.
4. Yes, it is pretty diverse. The Asian population makes up about 20%. There is a large Jewish population, as well as a large Catholic population as well.
