SO Ive incessantly google mapped out the Montclair area and feel that the Watching station area would be a nice fit. Ideally I would live 2-3 blocks away and walk to the station, restaurants, and just be able to stroll with my fiance. However the cheapest I can find is about 1300 a month for a 1br.

Is there anywhere else that supports this same lifestyle where my fiance can walk to/from a train station, a downtown with shops/restaurants, and cost any less/ give me more?

My fiance needs to get into NYC for work and I just need to get to Saddle Brook.

Downtown is Bloomfield Ave. You might like Rutherford. It's close to your jobs, has a nice downtown with shops and restaurants.

Rutherford near the train station is a bit pricey actually, but thank you for the recommendation. Id imagine during football season it must get crazy over there!

I didnt realize that downtown Montclair was on Bloomfield.

I suppose I am confused as to which train station is best to walk 5minutes to: bay street, walnut st, upper montclair, or watching. To me it appears that Watchung has the best lil village.

$1300 sounds reasonable to me for such a prime location?

Montclair is also pricey. I like Wathing area. Upper Montclair is nice but probably more expensive than Watchung. It has better shopping and a movie theater.

you can find a rental near the corner of Walnut and Central or Midland or Forest St. b/n chestnut and Claremont and be able to walk to walnut station and downtown. Watchung area a bit pricier, but not out of the question. No kids, better off being able to walk to downtown (Bloomfield/ church st)
