Ok so I got T-boned not to long ago by a friend. We really don't want to go through insurance and though he does have a good amount of money saved to pay for the damage he doesnt want to pay anything astronomical. The damage is both my passenger doors are indented and my unibody B-pillar seems bent 1in. I had a couple estimate a cost and all came up with different amounts. But each place has its flaws
Cort AB said-$2800 apparently it would take them sometime to get it done
Niro AB said-$2500 at first look the guy said $2500 but then my friend mentioned something about a insurance check and the guy changed his whole thing around, so im betting he would scam me. My gf likes this place
K&L AB said-$3000-$4000 my gf told me the are overpriced and are no good
Highway Body said-$5000-$6000, i had a shaky feeling about this place
Ok so here is the question, would anyone know a good reliable place to get work done to my car in central jersey(around somerville or new brunswick) or a place that wouldnt care if i bought the doors seperate and just needed the unibody pulled or reconfigured.
You might not be able to go through insurance anyway as there was no police report filed. So it looks like your friend will have to pay out of pocket. Check BBB ratings on own for review.
I went through a similar situation. Took my car to Ideal Auto Body in Raritan. Actually, I took it to a couple places for estimates but Ideal was the best. They had to place pieces on my door and front bumper. You couldn't tell no matter how hard you looked. This was several years ago so hopefully they are still as good.
Champion Carstar Collision just replaced my door (shell), painted it, and re-used the mirror and some trim. It took about a week and cost around $1,600.00. This place might be a little far, but the route is easy. They're located on Route 130 North-bound side, no. 1291, East Windsor.
thanks for the help. Ideal Auto Body doesnt seem like a bad idea, i actually forgot that existed. Had a couple of fiends go there and they liked it. And i will check out the East Windsor spot, i know that area pretty well and it wouldnt be to far to get to.
I know someone who does auto body at either his home garage in Millburn or his brother's auto shop in Hillside. DM me back for contact info if interested. He has been doing it for many years and had his own commercial shop at times also.
