Default Raritan Valley Line

Hello everyone, I am a foreign student who is looking for an apartment. Currently I'm in Highland Park and commute by NJTranjit to NYC. I am considering to live somewhere along Raritan Valley Line after this fall. Possibly in Somerville/Raritan area.
Here is my worry. my friend told me Raritan Valley Line may often have problem due to bad weather. Since I have no other commuting option (I don't drive), it would be a problem to me.
Would anyone kindly tell me, if Raritan Valley Line is reliable as NE Corridor Line for commute to NYC?
Thank you very much in advance.
-Yuki

Raritan Valley Line is very reliable as far as I know. My brother-in-law taking that route to NYC every day, and never heard any problem he got.

Also, I was at Raritan the other day and met some students from NJIT living there ... It is station after Somerville Station as you can see NJ TRANSIT Rail Lines Map (broken link) and station walk to many apartments and condos.

By the way, Highland Park has many very affordable apartments and very safe, why are you moving out of the area? Where are you going to school in NYC ?

Along Raritan line, there are two closer towns very affordable, one is Bound Brook, and another one even closer is Plainfield where I know many Union County College students live there, $500 a room, and commute thru NJ Transit to Union.

Thank you very much, ehs.
Yes I consider Raritan as well. But unlike other town I couldn't see much Raritan apartment listing onlilne, so I should go there and walk around sometime soon.

Highland Park is nice place. The town itself is great...so safe, convenient, and affordable. I have lived here for nearly 2 years. I am moving out because of some issue with my apartment. Besides, I will switch my school to the one in Somerset county whenever my paperwork is done.
I am currently attending a college in Downtown Manhattan.

Again, thank you for your help and suggestion.
