I concur with a lot of the above. Lean towards Fair Haven or Little Silver for schooling. (Red Bank is a wonderful place for enjoying restaurants and ambiance. I know the beautiful homes you describe.)

I live in Little Silver, we love it here. Red Bank is a great town, the schools are not too great though, lots of illegals, lots of "needy" children, big percentage of RB spending is to ESL classes and remedial/special ed.

Fair Haven and Little Silver are really great towns. It all depends on how much you have to spend, to be honest, and what you are looking for. I'd never move out of Little Silver, it has a great, small town vibe and everyone is very friendly. There are parks, a town center, everything is walkable, the community vibe is great, there are lots of recreation programs, etc. IMHO, its less "ostentatious" and showy than some parts of Fair Haven and definately Rumson. Good luck.
