Moving to NJ--need advice... (Edison, New Brunswick: apartment, to rent, theater)

I am looking to move to NJ next year, depending on my ability to find work (need to be closer to family). Since I'm 31, single and childless, I would like to live somewhere that's conducive to me having a social life. I anticipate that I will have a good income, so money won't be much of an issue when choosing a place to live. Also, I intend to rent for at least a year to make sure that things will work out with my job, etc. before committing to property ownership.

Ideally, I'd like to get something around Hoboken, but I haven't found any suitable job opportunities in the area. So far, my job prospects are in Lawrenceville, Woodbridge, Brick and Freehold.

I'd like to know if anyone has any suggestions about places that would be within a reasonable commuting distance from any of these locations, that might be suitable for a single, professional guy?

Want to be my neighbor at Edison Hollow South that is 5 min walk to Edison Train Stn, and near all towns you mentioned, besides, it is top 10 safest town in the nation?

Nearby is Rutgers Univ New Brunswick Campus, and lots of nice restaurants, and young people to make friends, and nice theater, concerts, art gallery, museums ...etc.

You may also consider New Brunswick if money is not an issue, a few hundreds more with brand new nice river side apartment. The Rt 18 has been renovating, and when you came next year would be all done, NO traffic lights any more... that is to say, no matter which direction your job at, you will be 10 to 15 minutes shorter in commute.

I met many pretty female colleagues and found out they seemed all renting at New Brunswick; many are singles at your age or younger, so, who knows, maybe you find your wife here ...
