Default how is Dover?

Hi, I am moving to Dover NJ from NY. I will be working right off of rt 80 in Dover. Can anyone recommend a nic safe place to live? I am single and dont need a huge place, just a safe place and an easy commute to and from rt 80?

Please let me know.

Thanks in advance

I personally don't care for Dover itself. I used to go to one bar there in college, but I wouldn't want to live there, I mean people do obviously, but it's a little seedy for me.

Morristown is a fun place to live if you're single. Can be expensive, but again if you're single and making the right salary would probably be a good match. Walkable bars, places to eat and shopping.

Dover is one of the most Hispanic areas of North Jersey (outside of Union City and Paterson perhaps). Its a fairly low-rent place. Not that much to do in the town. The Rockaway mall is fairly close by, but thats not the best mall in the area either (that title probably belongs to the Short Hills mall).

Don't get confused though, there are 2 Dovers in NJ and even some local people get them mixed up. You are talking about the one in Morris County, there is another one down by the shore.

Well, technically, not anymore Still many references to Dover down here, but it is now officially Toms River. Dover is off of the map (not sure it was ever even really ON the map - it was so confusing.)

There are some rental places in Randolph (next town over) that are decent and safe. You can also check out Parsippany which would be 3 exits down rt. 80, there is an abundance of rental communities there and it's a very safe town. If you are looking for more night-life, Morristown is the way to go. It's further away (but still a fine commute) and more expensive, but much more going on.

Toms River is not part of Dover Township anymore?

Are you young 25-35? If so you may prefer Morristown and you would be going against traffic during commuter hour.

Dover isn't that bad..I've seen worse but not much to do....they do have the train if you want to take mass transit into NYC but Morristown also has train.

Everything that was "Dover" is now "Toms River". Dover no longer exists, though you'll still see some scattered references to it.
