Regardless, I don't think that Christie has the right to try and repeal BC's blue laws, especially if it improves BC's quality of life (less traffic, etc.).

The majority of BC decided in favor of this law and it should be respected by the governor and businesses (regardless of the financial state of NJ). As a resident of Atlantic County, I thought this law was ridiculous when I first heard about it. For most county/city/town laws, there are plausible reasons behind them. North Jersey traffic is quite insane (compared to South Jersey) despite having many highways and major roadways (rt 3, 17, GSP, NJTPK, etc.) I can see why BC has this law in effect from a traffic stance alone.

Same idea goes for Ocean City: it's a "family" town and a hotspot for families to take their children during the summer. If visitors want to drink while on vacation and don't like OC's law, then they can vacation elsewhere such as (Atlantic City, Seaside Heights, Belmar, etc.) Although these kinds of laws seem ridiculous at a glance, there are important reasons behind these laws that need to be taken into consideration.

Here's the thing: businesses know about county laws when they start their business ventures in these counties. They do their research FIRST before they make the move. If a business doesn't like Bergen County's blue law, then they should locate their business elsewhere. Or they can just deal with the law. It doesn't make any sense for Christie to go against BC residents' (taxpayers') wishes. It would just hurt him and his career as a NJ governor in the long run.

tahiti, keep in mind that, according to him, in post #39, witches were being burrned at the stake in the 1700s.
